HEALTH, WEALTH & FAMILIESby Leslie Dashew "Health, Wealth and Families" is a wonderful new book by Leslie Dashew, author of "The Best of the Human Side" and co-author of "Working With Family Businesses, A Guide for Professionals". In this book Ms. Dashew provides excellent understanding of the dilemmas faced by affluent families and guidance on how to raise children who are healthy and well adjusted. THE BEST OF THE HUMAN SIDEby Leslie Dashew The world is evolving at such a rapid pace that we must be prepared to cope with change and to benefit from it, rather than fall victim to it. Most importantly, we must understand how to make changes in ourselves and to understand our limitations in changing others. This is not an easy process! I have shared some of my own experiences and reflections throughout this book (particularly in the first section) in order to illustrate that work in these areas continues throughout our lives. I have found that when we are courageous enough to share openly, others are more open as well. Go to Amazon.com to read reviews... |

FAMILY BUSINESS, RISKY BUSINESS: HOW TO MAKE IT WORKby David Bork In this trail-blazing book, acclaimed consultant David Bork provides a fascinating, candid look inside the workings of family business. He shows how family businesses combine the pressures of business with the complex psychological and social problems that almost every family faces: sibling rivalries, clashes over values and expectations, drug and alcohol abuse, in-law problems, and more. Drawing on his experiences as a counselor to over 200 family-run businesses, Bork shows how families can surmount these difficulties and make life in a family business both profitable and personally satisfying. Using the concept of the "family system," Bork explains how families either overtly or subconsciously develop and enforce their own traditions and values, often to the detriment of the family enterprise. He shows how the entrepreneurial founder can sow the seeds of lasting success--or sudden collapse--for the family business. He provides much needed guidance for developing a workable succession plan, and he shows how in-laws, children, spouses, and outsiders can be effectively integrated into the business. THE LITTLE RED BOOK OF FAMILY BUSINESSby David Bork As a consultant in service to families who own businesses, I always thought I needed to be grounded in some sound set of theories. I still think that is important, but not once, never in forty years, did someone in a family business say to me, What is the theoretical foundation for that idea? Clients always wanted an unvarnished, pragmatic solution. What will work? You won t find complex theories here, nor will you find everything about family business. This is a little book, not a big one. What you will find are clear, common sense tips, advice and direction that will be useful in your family business. Implementation of even a few of these ideas is certain to decrease concerns about your family and your business and increase your contentment in life. Go to Amazon.com to read reviews... |
